Re-Designing Connection in the Anti-Social Century

If you change the environment, you change the people.

This simple sentence framed my keynote BRAVE NEW SPACE – Re-Designing Connection in the Anti-Social Century at the BEAM Gamechanger Summit.
And it perfectly captures what BEAM truly is: not a conference, but a movement.

The BEAM Summit is redefining how we think about hospitality, space, and human connection.
It doesn’t shout. It doesn’t posture.
It creates the conditions where meaningful exchange can happen.

With BEAM, we’re not just talking about the future — we’re designing it, together, at one table.

A shared stage, a shared question

Together with Christian Müller, I had the opportunity to host:

BRAVE NEW SPACE — LAB
The best ideas don’t happen in isolation — they happen at one table, together.

BEAM Summit 2025 | Lab #2 – Brave New Space
How do we design spaces that enable real interaction and collaboration?

Moderated by HGV Südtirol, the lab became a working session — not a panel, not a performance.

From mindset to collaboration

BEAM tells a story in chapters:

  • BEAM Launch: Mindset

  • BEAM Summit 1: People

  • BEAM Summit 2: Collaboration

But BEAM does more than tell a story.
It creates spaces for communication, connection, and collaboration — in real time, with real people.

This is why #BEAMMovement matters.

Not as a hashtag.
But as a network that grows through conversations, shared meals, and unexpected encounters.

Serendipity is strategic

At the heart of BRAVE NEW SPACE lies a clear conviction:

Serendipity doesn’t happen by chance — it happens by design.

In the lab, we moved from insight to impact:

  • Prototyping spatial models

  • Rethinking how environments shape behavior

  • Exploring how hospitality can become infrastructure for trust, belonging, and collaboration

This is a call to #RethinkRealEstate
— not as cost per square meter,
but as social impact, designed for connection, enrichment, and belonging.

BEAM brings together people from different disciplines, generations, and perspectives — and invites them to sit at one table.

Because the future of hospitality, work, and real estate will not be designed in silos.
It will be designed together.

BRAVE NEW SPACE is not a keynote.
It’s an invitation.

To rethink space.
To redesign connection.
And to remember that when we change environments,
we change people.
